LILLY
Clark James (Jim) Lilly Jr., 91, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Hinton, WV, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Community Hospice Center of North Florida after a long and courageous battle with MDS.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gail Catherine Lilly of Elton, WV. Jim is survived by his three children, Joni Imes (Gary) of Huntington, WV, Timothy Lilly (Cynthia) of Woodford, VA , Amelia Isaacs (James) of Hazel Green, AL; and eight grandsons who have blessed him with six great-grandchildren.
Born February 18, 1930 in Pence Springs, WV, he was a son of the late Clark James Lilly and Nell Madeline Eskridge Lilly.
Jim retired in Jacksonville after a 48 year career with the railroad which began in Hinton, WV with the C&O, moved to Huntington, WV with the Chessie System, and then culminated in Jacksonville, FL with CSX. A Korean War veteran, Jim served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Robert K. Huntington (DD 781) as a Boatswains Mate Third Class. His military service enabled him to attend Concord College in Athens, WV where he earned a B.S. in Advertising Design, while working full-time for the RR.
His children humbly request that, in lieu of flowers, an Operation Christmas Child donation be made in his name to Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
Graveside service was held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29th at The Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane 2). Family and friends served as pallbearers.
