Beginning in June, Hinton Elks Lodge 821 will resume its normal monthly meeting schedule of 7:00 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month, per order of Exalted Ruler Doug Trail, according to Art Sanda, Lodge Secretary.
“The pandemic and the ensuring restrictions placed on meetings and gatherings made regular Lodge Meetings impossible,” said Sanda. “Because of that, the decision had been made by the State and National organizations to defer regular Elks meetings until the situation returned to normal. We encourage all Hinton Elks Lodge members to attend our first meeting Tuesday, June 9, beginning at 7:00 p.m.”
“Fortunately,” said Trail, “We also now can renew normal operations at the Willowwood County Club and Golf Course, with a number of events planned for this summer.”
Among those events, Trail said, are the weekly Thursday Sun Downer Golf Tournaments, with the annual season finale tournament in September, and several tournaments in support of local charities, such as the Annual Dickie Noel Scholarship Tournament June 5, Football Tournament June 19, July 4 Tournament, Freddie Mock Memorial Tournament July 24, Elks Senior Tournament third week in August, Labor Day Tournament, Summers and Raleigh Count Humane Societies Tournament September 11, and a local Law Enforcement First Responders Tournament in October.
“The Willowwood Golf Course is open daily,” Trail added, “and the facilities are available for rent for birthdays, showers, weddings, and special events. We certainly are pleased that business-as-usual is back and we look forward to serving the greater Summers County community.”
