Chad Meador has been named the 2021 West Virginia Water Festival Grand Parade Marshal. The Marshal is chosen by the festival committee.
Meador has put in so much work the last 14 months during the COVID-19 pandemic as Summers County’s Health Director. Meador has organized and oversaw both testing and vaccine clinics to ensure public health and safety in our county.
Meador also coaches the Summers County High School Girls Basketball team.
I asked KK Ratliff with the water festival why the committee chose Meador. Ratliff said “Every year the WV Water Festival committee sits down to decide who should be the Grand Parade Marshal. We look for someone who has a volunteer spirit and works to make a difference in Summers County. Chad Meador has worked with the staff of the festival for years to make sure every event meets the standards of the health department, so we have known for a long time what an asset he is to the community. This past year he has worked with the health department staff to keep everyone updated on Summers County statistics, CDC guidelines, vaccine information and availability etc. Chad has worked tirelessly to protect Summers County residents and shown true community spirit. Through it all he has continued to work with the youth in sports as he has for years. When his name was mentioned it was a unanimous decision. We are thankful for everything Chad has done for Summers County, not only throughout the pandemic, but always. He is a true picture of community spirit and we welcome him as the Grand Parade Marshal of the 56th annual ‘Wild and Wonderful WV Water Festival’”.
The Water Festival Grand Parade will take place Saturday, July 31 at 12:00 noon. Stay tuned for more information on the other Water Festival events.
