This weekend proved to be a big one for Summers County High School athletics as both the Lady Bobcats and boys basketball teams kicked into full gear for their new seasons after being postponed due to COVID-19.
The tip-off took place in two different locations with the Lady Bobcats up against the Charleston Catholic Irish on Summers County’s home court.
Taylor Isaac scored the first points of the game with a three-pointer. The Lady Cats pulled out a win, 45-34. Isaac finished the game with 16 points, followed by Gavin Pivont who scored 12 and Riley Richmond with 6.
The boys traveled to Sherman High School to play against the Sherman Tide.
Logan Fox scored the first points of the game with a steal, turning it into a beautiful layup. The boys fought hard but fell to the Tide, 56-36.
The top scorers were Levi Jones at 9 points, Logan Fox with 8, and Hunter Thomas right behind at 7.
The Lady Cats play again in Summers County on Tuesday, March 9, with tip-off at 7 p.m. The boys’ team plays at home on Friday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m.
