Summers County Dispatch confirms that there were multiple vehicle accidents in the county on the evening of Jan. 24.
Throughout the evening, the Summers County Sheriff’s Department, the West Virginia State Police, Jumping Branch/Nimitz Fire Department, Talcott Fire Department. Green Sulphur Springs Fire Department, Summers County Fire Department, Pipestem Fire Department and Hinton Fire Department were all called to various accidents.
Dispatch reports that the Hinton Fire Department was canceled on one call due to their being no entrapment involved in that incident.
Accidents occurred in Lowell, one on Ellison Ridge, two on I-64, and two on Rt. 20. Most of these accidents were reported as single-vehicle incidents.
After responding to multiple accidents the Summers County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning about road conditions on their Facebook page. The post requested that citizens “please stay off the roadways tonight [Jan. 24] the roads are very treacherous.”
