The Summers County Sheriff’s Department has announced an opportunity for Summers County residents to get their concealed carry permits.
The department is set to host six concealed carry classes that will be free to county residents. The classes are open to anyone over the age of 18, but those who live outside of the county will be required to pay a $50 fee.
The six classes will take place once per month beginning in February. The first class will take place on February 27, 2021. The subsequent dates will be March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26 and July 31. All of these dates fall on a Saturday. Each class will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 2 p.m.
There are two ways to register for a class. The first option is to call 304-466-7105 during normal business hours. The second option is to reach out to the department via Facebook Messenger at Summers County Sheriffs Department. According to the initial announcement on the department’s Facebook page, spots for each class will be limited and participants will be accepted on a first-come basis.
Requirements for the classes are as follows; participants must be 18 years of age or older and proof of residency within Summers County will be required to avoid the $50 class fee. All participants are required to provide their own firearm as well as 25 rounds of ammunition.
