The city of Hinton has announced plans to close the lower part of 5th Avenue for sledding when snow accumulation is sufficient.
According to their Facebook page, the sledding route will begin at Summers Street and go all of the way to the water park. The street to the railroad office, however, will remain open.
When there is enough snow, sledding will be allowed on this area of the road from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. The city will keep the public posted on sledding availability.
Due to insurance requirements, anyone sledding on this road must wear a helmet. Also, the city asks that everyone participating be respectful of nearby homeowners by keeping the noise level to a minimum.
During these occurrences, a city employee will attend to the street at night.
