Bringing joy to others is always important, especially around the holidays. After such an exhausting and draining year, many people and organizations are coming together to make this holiday season as wonderful as it can possibly be. A prime example of this is highlighted by Summers County fire departments.
Local fire departments are putting on a Parade of Lights for the community. Each participating department will use one or more of their trucks in this parade. The emergency lights on the trucks will flash and create a beautiful effect in the dark. This is an event that can be enjoyed by all ages and is perfect for the holiday season. Children especially will love seeing the flashing lights on the big fire engines as they slowly make their way through Pence Springs, Talcott and Forest Hill.
There will be a special guest included in this parade — Santa Clause himself! He will be riding on one of the fire trucks, be sure to wave as he passes by.
The parade will take place on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. The route begins in Pence Springs and ends in Forest Hill. The trucks will travel along Routes 3 and 12 on their journey. Anyone with homes on these roads will be able to enjoy the parade from the comfort of their own home, porch or yard.
According to Talcott Fire Department Chief Bill Costomiris, officials are asking anyone who does not live along the route and can not see the parade from their home but still wants to see it to park alongside the road to watch. While there, attendees are asked to remain in or near their vehicles and to maintain the required social distancing of six feet from anyone who did not travel together.
On Dec. 12 step outside and enjoy the light show brought to you by your friendly neighborhood fire departments.
