In a novel idea to keep people safe from gathering toe to tippy toe this year, the City of Hinton’s Annual Christmas Parade is taking a whole new route and you can enjoy it from the comfort of their own front porch.
Respecting Covid-19 guidelines, the parade will feature fire trucks and police cars led by the Spirit of Hinton’s Chad Meador with his family, joined by healthcare workers, nurses, EMTs and first responders to showcase those who have spent the past year intensively putting others first. Also, aboard the big red public safety vehicles will be Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and this year’s Snow Queen and Snow King. Beginning at dusk Dec. 5, the parade will start at 5 p.m. at the fire department in Avis and weave through town, into Bellepoint, past the front of the hospital, out through the West End and back to the fire station.
To share the holiday cheer, Mayor Jack Scott and City Manager Cris Meadows are asking everyone to show off their holiday spirit by lighting their trees and decorations at 6 p.m. that evening.
