The Campbell-Flannagan-Murrell House Museum is all spruced up and now open again on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. You may also call 304-445-5679 to arrange a tour at your convenience. The tours are guided and free, although donations are appreciated.
Visitors and locals are cautious about venturing out on a tour during this Pandemic, as they should be, so we have some suggestions for visiting or virtual visiting.
A mask must be worn to enter the Museum and the guide will wear one too. It would be best to have no more than three people to tour at the same time so everyone can maintain social distancing, but still hear the guide.
Or take an audio tour without leaving your home. Download Uniguide.me on your cell phone or computer, search for Campbell-Flannagan and take a tour with Virginia Fitzwater of Hinton. Virginia will take you through the Museum’s rooms, give you some facts about our railroad boom years and point out some treasured artifacts.
Uniguide.me offers hundreds of tours for your COVID travels.
Another method of getting to know the CFM House Museum is to watch for the posts and news articles called “Artifact of the Month.” Each month an artifact from the Museum will be pictured and its function and history shared with the reader.
CFM House Museum is always looking for volunteers: young and older. Maybe you need some volunteer or school hours, maybe you are a history or railroad buff… If so, just call 304-445-5679. Those wishing to donate to the maintenance of the Museum may go onto the webpage cfm-fmh.org to find the information.
See you at the Museum, 422 Summers St., one way or the other!
