Lorna Jean Richmond

Lorna Jean Richmond, 92, of Hinton died Friday September 25, 2020 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital following short illness.

Born December 14, 1927 in Casey, IL, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Veta Walker Peterson.

Lorna was a 1946 graduate of Hinton High School and was a homemaker. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a 75 year member of First Baptist Church in Hinton and a longtime member of the choir at the church. Lorna was also a former Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Richmond; two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.

Survivors include two sons, John Richmond and wife Rita of Glen Dale, WV and Jerry Richmond and wife Lottie of Princeton, WV; one daughter, Beverly Thompson and husband Greg of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Shirley Sowle of Saegertown, PA; grandchildren, Heather Zambito (Chris), Jaime Blake (Mike) and Sara Howard (Jesse), Jill Richmond Tieman (Shane) and Alex and Zachery Thompson; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson also survive.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday October 1, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Hinton with Pastors Jeff Canterbury and Ronald Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton and at the church 1 hour prior to services on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.

The family wants to thank Dr Haag and staff of Summers County ARH Hospital for their care and also the health care workers she encountered in Princeton.

COVID 19 regulations will be observed at all services per the CDC recommendations.
