He was a member of Summers County High School football and basketball teams and captain of both teams in 2019. He was selected to the 2nd Team WV All State Football Team. He was chosen by Coach Vicars as the recipient of the Dickie Noel Heart, Hustle and Character Award for the 2019 football season.
Trent is attending New River Community and Technical College where he is studying Electric Distribution Engineering Technology.
He is the son of Chad and Megan Meador of Jumping Branch, WV.
This scholarship is for $10,000 to be awarded as $5,000 per semester.
The scholarship was established in September 1988 in memory of Richard “Dickie” Noel, a 1982 graduate of Hinton High School and 1986 graduate of Concord College, to honor and encourage a Summers County High School Senior Athlete.
The award is based on that student’s outstanding moral character, academic achievement, motivation, and positive attitude.
In 1989 Dickie’s friends began an annual golf tournament in his memory to help fund the scholarship. The tournament has been held 31 years but had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
53 students have received the Dickie Noel Scholarship since its inception. $175,050 has been awarded!
Congratulations and best wishes to Trent from the Noel Family, “From your own words in your essay we know you’ll… ‘be a positive impact and mentor to others.’”
