The Department of Health and Human Resources reported that 10 more West Virginians have succumbed to the coronavirus on Wednesday.
In a statement posted on the DHHR website, Cabinet Secretary Bill Crouch said the following: “Today’s reporting of 10 West Virginians is a painful reminder of the continuing threat of COVID-19. We extend our sympathy to the families impacted by these deaths.”
The deceased include 4 Kanawha County residents: two females, age 70 and 96, and two males, age 83 and 94. The other confirmed deaths were that of an 80-year old Wood County woman, a 79-year old Boone County woman, a 73-year old Mason County woman, an 89-year old Mingo county woman, an 88-year old Mason County woman and an 84-year old Logan County woman.
The total number of coronavirus-related deaths across West Virginia is now 290.
There have been 493,568 COVID-19 tests performed since the onset of the pandemic, with 3,710 occurring on Tuesday. 220 new cases have been identified within the last 24-hours. The daily positivity-rate has spiked once again, reaching 5.61%. And the cumulative positivity-rate continues to inch higher, and is now at 2.67%.
