CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Hinton News) — West Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw joined the entire Mason County legislative delegation in praising Nscale Energy & Power, American Intelligence & Power Corporation, Fidelis New Energy and 8090 Industries for their recently announced plans to  construct and run what has the potential to serve as an AI factory anchor in the heart of West Virginia.

“This location is the first state-certified utility grid that has been put together specifically for Artificial Intelligence in the United States,” Hanshaw said. “We can provide up to 2,250 acres with as much as 8 gigawatts of power, and personally, I’m so excited to see we have such a strong community partner setting up shop.”

West Virginia Senate Economic Development Committee Chairman Glenn Jeffries, R-Putnam, said it is rewarding to see the efforts of developing strong opportunities for job growth and investment in the state come to life.

“This is the kind of development that changes an area like Mason County, along with the whole region around it,” Jeffries said. “We’re excited to see this project continue to succeed for years to come.”

Sen. Eric Tarr, R-Putnam, said he was proud to see West Virginia step up again as the country’s power generation powerhouse.

“Our state is now supplying critical infrastructure in the form of Artificial Intelligence, with one of the largest dedicated AI compute installations in the world,” he said. “The jobs and the ability for those jobs to keep our friends and family here at home in the Mountain State will be a blessing to Mason County, the region and for all of West Virginia.”

Sen. Amy Nichole Grady, R-Mason, said the region is proud to welcome this new business neighbor.

“This is a meaningful investment not just in our local economy, but also in our people and our future,” she said. “Its presence signals growth, confidence and opportunity, creating quality jobs and opening doors for families right here at home.

“Beyond that, it positions Mason County as a place of innovation and leadership, helping drive progress that reaches far beyond our borders.”

Delegate Jonathan Pinson, R-Mason, described the announcement as an exciting foundation for the region.

“We have worked hard over the past several years to pursue steady, practical economic development that builds toward meaningful results,” Pinson said. “Mason County has been ready to move forward by creating great opportunities while ensuring our community remains a wonderful place to call home. I’m eager to continue listening to the community and facilitating collaboration among all the parties to ensure lasting, positive outcomes for generations to come.”

Delegate Jim Butler, R-Mason, said he was inspired by the positive momentum in Mason County.

“I’m confident that the thoughtful regulations we’ve put in place recently will safeguard our communities while unlocking tremendous opportunities for our residents,” he said. “I’m truly encouraged by the commitments I’ve heard directly from these leading corporations choosing Mason County as their new home, and I’ve also heard the concerns from our citizens about the need to responsibly manage our new growth. These transformative developments will elevate Mason County’s profile across West Virginia and generate vital new revenue streams to address many of our longstanding challenges.

“Above all, I’m excited about the bright future this creates for our families. Our children and grandchildren will now have outstanding job prospects right here at home, allowing them to build careers, raise families and thrive in the place they love.”
