Keyser, W.Va. (Hinton News) — Troopers from the West Virginia State Police, Keyser Detachment, have arrested a Keyser man following two separate criminal investigations involving allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor and financial fraud.
On Friday, March 13, 2026, Troopers arrested Jeremy Shingler, 35, of Keyser, West Virginia, for Soliciting a Minor via Computer, Sexual Abuse by a Person in a Position of Trust, Embezzlement and Fraudulent Scheme.
The charges stem from two separate investigations conducted by the West Virginia State Police. One investigation began after a concerned parent reported inappropriate electronic communications between Mr. Shingler and a juvenile. The investigation revealed sexually explicit and inappropriate communications with the minor as well as allegations of inappropriate physical contact.
A separate investigation began after Mr. Shingler’s employer reported suspected financial irregularities involving company funds. During the course of the investigation, Troopers determined that funds had been fraudulently obtained through checks written to a fictitious company and unauthorized credit card purchases. The confirmed financial loss is approximately $15,969.
Mr. Shingler was arraigned in Mineral County Magistrate Court and released after posting a $25,000 bond.
This investigation is still ongoing.
