Featured Dog of the Week: Bucky

SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – There is an old saying that the biggest dogs often have the softest hearts, and in the case of Bucky, that couldn’t be more accurate. Weighing in at a sturdy 100 pounds, Bucky is a “gentle spirit” who proves that true strength lies in a kind nature. Currently in the care of the Animal Control and Welfare Project (ACWP), this handsome boy is officially on the lookout for a forever family.

One of Bucky’s most endearing qualities is his adaptability. Whether you are an active individual or a dedicated homebody, Bucky is happy to match your energy:

The Active Companion: If you’re looking for a partner for your daily strolls, Bucky is famously easy to walk and loves a good trip around the block.

The Movie Buddy: On those days when you just want to lounge, Bucky is the ultimate couch companion. His caretakers joke that if it’s a movie-and-snacks kind of day, Bucky will be the first one in the living room ready to share the chips.

While Bucky is a friend to almost everyone he meets, he does have a few specific needs when it comes to his social circle. Because he can show a dominant side around other male dogs, the ACWP requires a “meet and greet” with any potential canine siblings before he heads home. This ensures that the chemistry is just right for a peaceful household.

As for feline friends? Bucky’s feelings on cats remain a mystery for now, so a slow and careful introduction would be recommended for homes with kitties.

Bucky is described as having “just the right amount of affection sprinkled into his personality.” He isn’t overly demanding, but he has plenty of love to give to the right person.

If you have room in your heart (and on your sofa) for 100 pounds of pure devotion, you can find more information or fill out an application through the Summers County Humane Society/ACWP via the links below:
