Summers County, W.Va. (Hinton News) – Interstate 64 will have alternating lane closures from 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, through 6:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, for pavement repairs at the Sandstone Bridge Rehabilitation Project, which is currently restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction.
Westbound I-64 will be shut down completely from 6 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025. Traffic will detour at Exit 143 (Green Sulphur Springs), take Summers County Route 4 West (Lick Creek Road), to WV 20 South in Green Sulphur Springs, and return to I-64 West at Sandstone. Signs will be in place advising the public of the detour. Upon completion of repairs I-64 westbound will reopen at approximately 9:00 p.m.
Eastbound I-64 will be shut down completely from approximately 10 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, through 6 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025. Traffic will detour at Exit 125A (Beaver/Airport Road), take WV 307 West to US 19 South in Beaver, to WV 3 East in Shady Spring, to WV 20 North in Hinton, back to I-64 East at Sandstone. Signs will be in place advising the public of the detour. Eastbound I-64 will reopen immediately upon completion of the necessary repairs.
Additionally, messaging boards on Interstate 77 South will direct drivers to continue on I-77 to Exit 9 (Princeton), to US 460 East, to Interstate 81 North to bypass the work zone.
Work is being done at night to minimize the impact on the traveling public.
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances may affect the project schedule. The WVDOH expresses their apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and asks motorists to observe all traffic control signs and devices and use caution while traveling around the work zone.
