HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – On July 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a free creative writing workshop at the Summers County Public Library.  This is an in-person workshop taught by Cheryl Kula (author of Unsinkable Sam and A Different Tail). It is open for all ages (10 to 100), but be aware that they may discuss some hard topics. Sign up at the library or contact Cheryl Kula directly (cheryl.kula@gmail.com).

Workshop Description: Many writers find their stories fall flat because they create a wonderful main character, and then they are reluctant to force their beloved character into difficult situations or to find a resolution to the situation. But bad decisions create good drama. Conflict creates tension, which is often engaging and entertaining to your readers. Through this hands-on writing workshop, participants will discuss characters and then create ways to make them suffer. Writers should walk away from this workshop with a fleshed-out main character and the framework for a full story.
