Mr. Woody Graham Long

Mr. Woody Graham Long, age 86, of Waverly, TN, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at his home.

A dedicated Mason, Woody had a deep commitment to the values of brotherhood, charity, and service. His involvement with the organization underscored a lifetime commitment to supporting those around him and contributing to the welfare of others. Additionally, as a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, he exemplified the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in the armed forces. Woody’s participation in this organization was a testament to his enduring respect for his fellow veterans and a recognition of their shared experiences.

Beyond his community service and commitments, Woody had a plethora of interests that enriched his daily life. He found great pleasure in watching sports on television, where he followed his favorite teams with enthusiasm. An avid reader, he immersed himself in the worlds that unfolded within the pages of books, allowing his imagination to roam far and wide. Woody also enjoyed spending time playing computer games.

Woody had a distinct appreciation for the beauty of nature. He delighted in observing wildlife, taking the time to appreciate the natural world around him. At home, he shared a special bond with his cats, finding joy in their playful antics and companionship. His love for animals and the outdoors reflected his nurturing spirit and gentle heart.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2 p.m. until service time at Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Humphreys County Funeral Home.

Interment is scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

Survivors include loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Long of Waverly, TN; daughters, Sherry Miller (Shad) of Waverly, TN, Kaye Long of Waverly, TN; sister, Carolyn Smith (Bill) of Narrows, VA; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Steward and Gladys Lester Long; and brothers, Harold and Calvin “Sugar” Long.

Arrangements are by Humphreys County Funeral Home, (931-296-5955) of Waverly, TN.
