WEST VIRGINIA (Hinton News) – Former legendary Summers County girls’ basketball coach Wayne Ryan, who won six state titles, including five straight from 2007-2011 in Class AA, was named the executive director of the WVSSAC by the WVSSAC board of directors on Tuesday.

Ryan is currently the associate executive director and held the title of assistant director from 2016-2023.

He graduated from Hinton High School in 1982 and was a multi-sport athlete who played baseball at Alderson-Broaddus.

He will assume his new role on July 1, 2025, once the current exec. director David Prince, officially retires.
