Barbara Elizabeth Grimmett

Barbara Elizabeth Grimmett, 86, of Hinton, WV, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, following a short illness.

Born November 15, 1938, in Jumping Branch, she was a daughter of Arleigh O. Cole and Edna Bennett Cole (Eldwin) Bennett.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Anthony “Tony” Grimmett; and a brother, Warren Cole.

She is survived by her children, Alan Grimmett and Sara (Randy) Fix; step-grand/great-grandchildren, Kassi, Molly, Laci, Liam, and Maddox; siblings, Mrs. Rosemary “Judy” (Junior) Richards, Mrs. Becky Reed, and Jerry (Melissa) Cole; sister-in-law, Roberta Wheeler; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Barbara attended the Central Baptist Church and was a graduate of Hinton High School. She retired as a cook for Summers County Schools and enjoyed serving students and staff. In her earlier years, she served as a kindergarten aide that she particularly enjoyed and remembered most fondly.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother, who always placed the comfort and benefit of her family before her own. She enjoyed simple pleasures, such as her cats, growing flowers, bird watching, reading, doodling and coloring, crossword puzzles, scenic drives, listening to music, and playing piano.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 12 until 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Summers County ARH, Dr. Khan, Michelle, and Bethany for their care and treatment, and Pastor Robbie Merritt for his care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Baptist Church, the Summers Co. Animal Control and Welfare Project (ACWP), and Riverside Kitten Rescue.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.ronaldmeadowsfp.com.

Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
