Nancy Hopps

Nancy Hopps was born January 27, 1935, in Indiana and died at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the age of 90.

Nancy is survived by her children, Roxana, Benjamin, and Jeremy; her sister, Betty Lemieux; grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Nancy has been an avid Jazz enthusiast for decades, not only listening to her 100 CDs but listening to live performances and reading many books on the subject. Nancy’s other passionate pastimes were tending to her garden and flowers, watching the birds come every season to have babies in her homemade bird houses, and playing the piano.

Nancy spent the majority of the first part of her life raising her children in Washington, DC, while working for the World Wildlife Fund as a Project Manager on their Russia Tiger Program. Nancy retired in 1998 and moved to Hinton, WV, where she made such wonderful friends, who have enriched her time here in Hinton. She got involved in the community; volunteering at Loaves and Fishes; reading to the kids at the elementary school; and volunteering with the Friends of the Library.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia, especially Lisa, Ruth, Andrea, and Jessica, for taking such good care of Nancy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
