HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – Shop Owner Dagan Mckinney says that for approximately three years he was using office space on Temple Street as his studio space. He does mosaic glasswork, leather crafting and other artwork. He decided it was too good of a space not to do something with and that’s when he decided to open a gallery/gift shop, which turned into The 211 Gallery.
Mckinney said he began by selling furniture out of the display window. At the same time, he was working on fixing up the shop area. He wanted to have local artists featured, as well as signed pieces from artists all over the world. Mckinney explained that today he has that along with a collection of Blenko and Fenton glass. He said he likes to find unique items and oddities and that he is always trying to make the shop eclectic and fun.
Mckinney said it’s important to him to try and make the shop inviting to locals and tourists alike. He went on to explain that some of his best-selling items are macrame hangers by Evelyn Mckinney, sun catchers, crystals, jewelry and mosaics.
Store hours are noon to 8 p.m. and the store is closed on Wednesday and Sunday. You can find the gallery at 215 Temple Street in Hinton. Be sure to include this wonderful Place in your holiday shopping.
