MEADOW BRIDGE W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Tuesday, Sept. 24, officers went to serve a search warrant in the vicinity of Meadow Bridge. While in the residence, officers located the accused, Garry Wayne Martin, in the back bedroom of the residence. According to the criminal complaint, after Martin left the bedroom, officers were able to make contact with him on the front porch. Officers were able to locate 15 wrapped-up aluminum foil pieces containing a blue substance consistent with heroin. They were also able to locate one plastic baggie with a blue substance consistent with heroin and one plastic baggie with a crystal-like substance inside consistent with methamphetamine. Also located was $940 in U.S. currency on Martin’s person.

The criminal complaint states, that in the back bedroom where Martin was located, the officers were able to locate lying on the bed one white bag. Inside the white bag was a gray bag. Inside the gray bag was a .22 caliber pistol and a .380 caliber pistol. One of the officers ran both serial numbers through WVSP Beckley Communications to which he was advised that the 380 pistol was in NCIC as a stolen weapon from Alabama. 

Reportedly, located inside the gray bag were four plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance, one plastic bag containing a brown substance consistent with heroin, and one black bottle containing three plastic bags containing a white powder-like substance consistent with fentanyl. Also found in Martin’s bedroom was one plastic bag containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. The officer also found a .22 rifle under Martin’s bed. The troopers also reportedly found a scale and a box of unused clear sandwich bags. The troopers secured all items in the officer’s cruiser. 

Also during the commission of the search warrant, officers were able to locate in the trunk of Mr Martin’s car, one plastic bag containing 11 individual baggies containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. According to the criminal complaint, in the original bag was a mason jar with a green leafy substance consistent With marijuana. Officers also reportedly located $71 and a set of scales in the vehicle. 

After the items were secured in the cruiser, the officers contacted WVSP Beckley Communications to determine if Martin was a prohibited person from owning a firearm. They advised that Martin had a DUI 3rd offense felony conviction from Aug. 20, 2007.

Martin was placed under arrest on the charges of possession with the intent To deliver x4, prohibited person with a firearm x3, and possession of stolen goods. 

Martin was transported to the Hinton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police for processing. He was further transported to Southern Regional Jail for booking. At the time of writing, Martin is no longer listed as an inmate with Southern Regional Jail.
