Bobbie Rex Ratliff
Bobbie Rex Ratliff, 91, of Hinton, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, following a long illness.
Born November 18, 1932, in Hinton, he was the son of the late Garnet “Bull Dog” and Effie Fern Samples Ratliff.
Bobbie Rex was a graduate of Hinton High School, where he excelled in football. He was a US Air Force veteran and was a retired minister and missionary. Bobbie Rex was a member of Elk Knob Baptist Church at Elk Knob and was a member of the Hinton High school sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed fishing with his family and will be remembered for his love, guidance, and spirituality.
Besides his parents, Bobbie Rex was preceded in death by his loving wife, Garnet I. “Jeanie” Ratliff, in November 16th of 2022; also preceded by five brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish his memory are four sons, Mike Ratliff and wife, Annette, of Goldsboro, NC, Phillip Ratliff and wife, Juanita, of Catawba, NC, Jeff Ratliff and wife, Jennifer, of Ronceverte, WV, and Jody Ratliff of Charleston; one brother, Jerry Ratliff of Covington, GA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Bobbie Rex Ratliff will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Frank Naglic, Pastor Johnny Booth, and Phillip Ratliff officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
