CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Hinton News) – HospiceCare has been named a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of revenue cycle management services, CAHPS and bereavement surveys and advanced analytics for hospice organizations. This prestigious annual review recognizes agencies that continuously provide a positive patient experience and high-quality care as measured by the patient and caregiver experience. Data is gathered through the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey satisfaction measures, and only the highest performing agencies nationally receive this honor.

HEALTHCAREfirst identified award recipients by evaluating performance on a set of twenty-four quality indicator measures publicly reported measures from October 2022 through September 2023. Individual hospice performance scores were aggregated from all surveys with a final survey status of complete for the evaluation period and were compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database.  HCAHPS Honors recipients include agencies scoring above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Average on at least 85% of the evaluated questions. This is the third consecutive year that HospiceCare has received this honor.

“We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than ten years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Ronda Howard, Vice President of Revenue Cycle and CAHPS at HEALTHCAREfirst. “We congratulate HospiceCare on their success and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.”

“We are honored to be recognized as a 2024 Hospice Honors recipient, a testament to our commitment to delivering compassionate care and support to our patients and their families during life’s most challenging moments,” said HospiceCare CEO, Christopher Rawlings. “This prestigious accolade reaffirms our dedication to excellence and inspires us to continue striving for the highest standards of quality care in every aspect of our service. The Hospice CAHPS Honors Award is a testament to our enduring focus on fostering meaningful relationships with our patients and their families, guiding them with compassion and support throughout their journey.”
