Virginia Catherine Thompson Snider

Virginia Catherine Thompson Snider, age 89, was born in Hinton, WV, on December 3, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mae Mann Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Francis Snider.

Ginger is survived by her sister, Jane E. Thompson of Old Hickory, TN; her two sons, Richard Steven Taylor, wife, Patty, and daughter, Victoria, of Eagle, CO, and Jeffrey Elliott Taylor, companion, Jennifer, and her grandchildren, Aylen, Fawna, and Brandon, Jr. of Parkersburg, WV; her niece, Kelly Rae, husband, Mike, Seth, Shane, and Juliana Large of Spring Hill, TN; her nephew, Andy Maxwell; her very special granddaughter, Leslie Hamilton and her husband, Andrew of New Hudson, MI; granddaughter, Katie Lewis, husband, Ben and sons, Noah and Liam of South Lyon, MI; and son, Jim Snider, Jr. of Highland, MI.

She graduated from Hinton High School in 1951 and kept in touch with most of her classmates, helping to organize many class reunions. She was a proud member of the Red Hatters Club, First United Methodist Church in Hinton, Friends of the Summers County Library, Summers County Historical Society, Ballengee Farm Club and Neighborhood Association, Hinton Woman’s Club, the Wednesday Club, and the Advisory Council for Children’s Home Society in Lewisburg.

In later years, she had so many wonderful people in her life. Special among them is her cousin, Kent Bartgis, and his wife, Anna Lou, who helped her so much. They have been with her all along this final journey, along with cousins, Tom and Donna Conway. The most precious gift anyone gave her is the love and care that Betty and John Hendrick have bestowed on Ginger after her return to Hinton, especially during her surgery this year and after care.

At Ginger’s request, no funeral was held at the time of her passing. However, on December 2nd, the day before her 90th, a Memorial Birthday Party is being held at the First United Methodist Church, 312 Ballengee Street, Hinton, WV, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate her life. All are welcome for food, a slide show, music by her sister, Jayne, and a remembrance tree.

Gifts in her memory may be sent to Children’s Home Society, 9579 Seneca Trail S., Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Services by Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton, WV. Interment at Restwood Cemetery, Hinton, WV.
