LOWELL W.Va. (Hinton News) – Are you a budding writer who needs a little push in the right direction? Are you an experienced writer who wants to focus on an ongoing project? Would you like to spend a day with fellow writers talking about writing and stories? Would you like to spend a day actually putting words on a page?
WV Writers (www.wvwriters.org) will be hosting a one-day writer’s retreat on Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Graham House in Lowell, West Virginia. While the event is free, registration is required to ensure that enough lunches are ordered in advance. Contact Cheryl Kula (through FB or email at cheryl.kula@gmail.com) to add your name to the roster.
The retreat will consist of time set aside for writing on your own, plus as a group, we will work on a writing prompt, share ongoing projects or ongoing road-blocks, mini-writing exercises, a tour of the Graham House, problem-solving for writing, and for those who feel it – share a piece of what you’ve written.
The Graham House was built in 1770 and was the background for a historic attack in 1777. This well-preserved building has an add-on dining room (air-conditioned) with a full kitchen, bathroom facilities, outdoor picnic tables, plus a large yard that faces the Greenbrier River, so each writer should be able to find a spot to write and talk in comfort.
