TALCOTT (Hinton News) – Here is the full schedule of events for John Henry Days 2023.

Sunday, June 25

2:00 p.m. – Reception honoring Warren and Louise Tabor, Grand Parade Marshals at the tunnel. Light refreshments will be served.

Friday, July 7

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.- John Henry Museum and Gift Shop Open.

7:00 pm – LIVE BAND at the tunnel featuring THE GOODSON BOYS BAND 

Alderson, WV. Bring a lawn chair.

SATURDAY, July 8

8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. – BREAKFAST at Trinity United Methodist Church

9:00 a.m. Craft/Food Vendors and Activities

9:00-10:30 a.m. Parade Registration at Talcott School 

9 a.m./12 p.m./1:30 p.m. Chainsaw Carving Demonstration by Hobby by Heart (Mike and Janie Toney) at the boat ramp

11:00 a.m. – GRAND PARADE “Keeping the Legend Alive” Honoring Warren and Louise Tabor, Grand Parade Marshals 

1:00 p.m. – Parade Awards beside the Post Office Ribbons awarded for 1st-3rd place in each category.

$100.00 People’s Choice Winner- to be announced at concert during intermission. Vote at John Henry Museum 1:30 pm-4:00 pm and at the tunnel 5:30-7:30 pm.  All 1st place winners will be entered into the contest.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – KIDS ZONE at the tunnel. Sponsored by Talcott Volunteer Fire Department. Fire truck rides/bounce houses/games/activites (Minimal fee for bounce houses)

1:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. BOUNCE HOUSES AND FOOD VENDORS OPEN at the tunnel.

7:00 p.m. – Live Music at the tunnel featuring 

RICK K & THE ALLNIGHTERS Morgantown, WV Bring a lawn chair.

Entertainment is FREE – Donations appreciated.

 **NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES*

10:00 p.m. FIREWORKS following the band. Special THANK YOU to the Talcott and Alderson Volunteer Fire Departments.

SUNDAY, July 9

9:30 a.m. – Church Service at the tunnel with Guest Speaker, Tim Morgan, Talcott High School, Class of 1978. Bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, church services will be held at Trinity Methodist Church.

11:00-4:00 p.m. CAR SHOW at the tunnel. Registration begins at 11:00 am following church service. No entrance for car show registration during church service- 9:15 a.m. -10:30 a.m. Trophies awarded at 3:00 pm. Trophies and Awards Sponsored by: Advance Auto Parts & Fisher Auto Parts, Hinton and Beckley locations.

BOUNCE HOUSES AND FOOD VENDORS OPEN

1:30 p.m. JOHN HENRY DAYS “RUBBER DUCK PLUCK” Prizes to be awarded during the car show beginning at 1:30 pm and continuing throughout the car show.

($5.00 daily fee for bounce houses) 

Entertainment is FREE- Donations are appreciated!
