CHARLESTON (Hinton News) — In a historic move on June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and effectively overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which returned the authority to regulate abortion to the states.
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey said back then that the decision was long past due. In July 2021, the Attorney General joined a 24-state brief supporting life in the Dobbs case.
“It took nearly 50 years to right a fallacy that has led to the tragic deaths of more than 60 million unborn children,” Attorney General Morrisey said. “With that Supreme Court decision, we have enacted a law in West Virginia that reflects the will of the people through their elected representatives.”
In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision, Attorney General Morrisey is co-hosting a multistate donation drive to support more than 60 pregnancy centers across the U.S.
The drive ends June 24.
“As strong pro-life supporters, we must do all we can to help support life-affirming organizations so they can continue their good work to help provide women with compassionate care when they need it most,” Attorney General Morrisey said. “This donation drive is a start.”
He is co-hosting the drive with attorneys general in Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia.

West Virginia alone is home to around 39 of these life-affirming pregnancy resource centers that provide care and practical support to women and babies before and after birth. There are more than 2,700 pregnancy centers and maternity homes nationwide.
