HINTON, (Hinton News) – Summers County Baseball crushed Montcalm 25-6 on Wednesday night in Hinton.

The Bobcats got things started early when their first batter Ben Lane tripled and scored on an error in the first inning.

Summers County had an even more successful second inning. They scored nineteen runs thanks to RBIs by Lane, Brandan Isaac, Ryan Oliveros, Colten Jones, Jake Boone, Ayden Gardner, Drake Davis, and Ben Bragg. Four runs were from Colten Jones’ grand slam, which came one night after his teammate Xander Hudgins knocked one over the same fence.

The Bobcats racked up seventeen team hits. Ryan Oliveros led with three. Peyton Miller, Lane, Isaac, Davis, Jones, and Boone each had two hits. John Williams and Hudgins had one each.

Summers County stole two bases on the night. Isaac and Oliveros were each responsible for one.

Devin Mansfield, Peyton Miller, Robey Brown, and Matthew Cox made mound appearances for the Bobcats.

In the landslide victory, Summers County coaches made sure each player entered the game at some point.

Summers County (now 5-6) will play Greater Beckley Christian on the road Thursday night.
