HINTON, (Hinton News) – As we share this earth with many things, animals have always been a blessing for us. They provide us with food. They help us do our work. They provide balance to the earth.

Perhaps the way we appreciate animals the most is through our pets. Pets give us love, companionship and joy.

To celebrate and honor that relationship, there will be a Blessing of the Animals in Bellepoint Park on April 22 at 2 p.m. behind the shelter. All animals are welcome! Bring your cats and dogs, your gerbils and your birds, your goats and horses! Animals will need to be in a cage or on a leash.

Animals will be prayed for and blessed. As will their owners. Animals will receive a St Francis medallion to wear around their neck.

This blessing will be part of the Earth Day celebration held at Bellepoint Park on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3, with the pet blessing at 2 p.m. It is sponsored by Summers County Huddle and Ascension Episcopal Church. All are welcome!
