HINTON, (Hinton News) – Summers County Baseball defeated Westside 5-4 on Thursday night after grabbing the lead in the sixth inning. The game was tied 4-4 until Ryan Oliveros was walked and forced a run (Brandan Isaac scored). Other Bobcat runs came from a single by Isaac in the fifth (John Williams scored), a single by Oliveros in the fifth (Isaac scored), a Ben Lane double in the sixth (Jake Boone scored), and another single by Isaac in the sixth (Lane scored).

Isaac and Oliveros led the team in hits with two each. Xander Hudgins and Lane each had one hit as well.

The team stole seven bases. Isaac and Oliveros stole three each, and Hudgins stole one.

Boone, Oliveros, and Isaac were all on the mound for the Bobcats. The rest of the team played well in the field with minimal errors.

The coaching staff stated that they would like to extend a big thank you to Jacks’s Bargain Barn for their donation of tarps to cover the infield. These tarps keep the field playable in poor weather conditions.

Summers County (now 4-4) will travel to James Monroe on Friday.
