Gov. Justice announces winners of 2023 lifetime license giveaway

CHARLESTON, (Hinton News) – Last week, Gov. Jim Justice and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources announced the winners of the state’s fourth annual Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License Giveaway.

The giveaway was open to residents and nonresidents who purchased an annual 2023 hunting, trapping or fishing license in December 2022. Over 21,000 people entered the drawing.

“As a lifelong outdoorsman, I am honored to announce the winners of the WVDNR’s Lifetime License Giveaway,” Justice said. “This giveaway is just one of the many ways my administration is giving back to the hardworking and dedicated sportsmen and women of West Virginia. I want to congratulate all our lucky winners and thank them for their dedication to preserving our state’s wildlife. I hope that these prizes will bring them plenty of joy and memories in our beautiful state.”

The resident grand prize is a combination hunting, trapping and fishing lifetime license and the nonresident grand prize is two Pipestem Resort State Park zipline tour tickets with a three-night lodge stay. Other prizes include $200 West Virginia State Parks gift cards, two-night cabin stays at West Virginia State Parks and gift bags with exclusive merchandise.

Giveaway winners are listed below and will be contacted by the WVDNR to arrange delivery of prizes.

The resident hunting, trapping and fishing lifetime license winner is Makaylia Johnston of Fayetteville.

The resident $200 West Virginia State Parks gift card winners are Kailynn Weaver of West Columbia, Brian Cole of Martinsburg, Jillian Wines of Weston, and Natalie Remias of Valley Fork.

Resident WVDNR gift bag winners are Bobby Jarvis of Chloe, Amanda Beverage of Valley Head, Kevin Lockhard of Ripley, Kyle Robinson of Craigsville, Justin Blake of Washington, Jeremiah Tackett of Danville, Ethan Kesner of Moorefield and Kyle Schrader of Parkersburg.

Nonresident Pipestem Resort State Park stay of three nights and two Pipestem Peaks zipline tour tickets winner is Paul Frame of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Nonresident West Virginia State Park stay of two nights winners are Rachel Bartgis of Annapolis, Maryland (Watoga State Park); William Tobias of Peoria, Illinois (Bluestone State Park); Natasha Dinsmore of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania (Seneca State Forest); and Scott Hargrove of North Lawrence, Ohio (Blackwater Falls State Park).

Nonresident WVDNR gift bag winners are Steven Williams of Leesville, South Carolina; Andrew Rice of Statesville, North Carolina; Ethan Adkins of Belfry, Kentucky; Ivan Bryant of Destin, Florida; Sabrina Evans of Hatfield, Kentucky; Shana Dove of Timberville, Virginia; Mark Hardgrove of Conyers, Georgia; and Craig Harley of Pennington, New Jersey.
