Why stop at Christmas when you can celebrate all year long? The Historic Ritz Theatre is excited to announce a new free movie series. In 2023 The Ritz they will be celebrating each month with a vintage freebee. Join them for a romantic date in February with An Officer and a Gentleman. Welcome Spring at the Ritz with Shrek this March. In April, go trouble-making with Peter Rabbit. In May take your beloved mother out to watch Mamma Mia!

The list will continue into the year with a new movie on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Rest assured, the Ritz will continue the free Summer Movie Series and the free Christmas Movie Series you all know and love.

As usual, the concessions stand will be serving up crisp, delicious popcorn, fizzy soda and all your favorite movie theatre candy. Make it an evening by having dinner at The Market or get a movie-themed beverage at Otter and Oak and watch the traffic before the show.

For many, going to the Ritz is a family tradition. “Maybe it’s a movie that brings you back in time, a yearly custom or a classic you always meant to see but just never did. Either way you look at it, it’s so fun to laugh, cry and chomp popcorn with all the other folks in the theatre.” says Stephanie Liedman, Ritz Assistant Manager.

“I love to hear people tell about their own experiences at The Ritz, whether it was threading the film through the projector or teenagers in the ’50s lining up like a train and dancing down one aisle, crossing the front row and coming back up the other aisle and out the front door after a football game. This is where several generations have had their first jobs, first dates, and first movies. Adds Sheila Allman, Executive Director.

The Ritz Theatre has been serving the community since 1929 and was renovated in 2009 to bring new Blockbuster movies to Hinton every weekend at a price that won’t break the bank. When MountainPlex Properties, LLC First obtained The Ritz Theatre in 2008 the only movies they could show at the time were DVDs, within a year they were renovated and showing film on the restored vintage projector with reels of film. Within another 2 years, they were upgraded to digital cinema and Dolby surround sound.

With over 250 seats on the first floor and 48 seats in the balcony, they are rarely sold out but you may want to get there early so you have your snacks, preshow selfies, check in on social media and lights are still on!
