SCOTT

Jackson L. Scott, Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Hinton, WV, joined our Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, after a short illness.

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose example of commitment to family will live on for generations.

A graduate of Hinton High School in 1954, Jack would serve the next four years in the US Navy, before returning home to attend Concord College and the WV School of Banking. Jack began his banking career with the First National Bank of Hinton, where he eventually became Executive Vice President. He guided the bank’s move to its new facility on Temple Street, currently the home to Summit Bank. After retiring, Jack and wife, Donna, owned and operated Humpty Dumpty Day Care in Hinton for over 20 years, providing a safe and much needed childcare facility for the community.

Jack was a proud West Virginian who loved his hometown and believed there were always better days ahead. A huge Mountaineer fan, Jack never missed a football or basketball game on TV. His love for hunting and golf with family and with his longtime friend, Davis “Tink” Ritter, spanned almost 5 decades and provided the content for many of the unlimited stories he loved to tell about their exploits. Jack was an Elk Member for over 60 Years and served as the club’s secretary/treasurer for over 20 years. But Jack will most be remembered for his love of family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Maycle Scott; and brothers, Randolph and Jerry.

Those left to cherish his memories are the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Donna Sue; three children, Kim and husband, Dan Crane, Jack and wife, Kristi Scott, Paula and husband, Billy Rhodes; five grandchildren, Jeff, Jared, Russell, Taylor, and Ellie; two great-grandchildren, August and Koda; and one brother, Steve.

A visitation will be held at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton, WV, on Saturday, January 14th from 12 – 2 p.m. with a brief service to follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ronald Cobb.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Beckley VA Medical Center.

Online condolences at www.pivontfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements by Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton, WV.
