Visit Bath County Board names first President & CEO

Hot Springs, VA (Hinton News) – The Visit Bath County Board of Directors has chosen Mark Shore as President and CEO of Visit Bath County. Shore will serve the newly formed destination marketing organization as its first official employee.

He joins Visit Bath County after a national search for a President & CEO. Shore will work with Visit Bath County’s 18-member board of directors to develop the organization and promote tourism to the area.

Shore served as Director of Tourism Marketing for VisitNC (North Carolina’s state tourism office) from 2014 to 2019. He moved to Augusta County, VA, in 2019, where he has operated a tourism consulting company with clients in Minnesota, Tennessee, and North Carolina for the past three years.

“I am excited to lay the foundation of this new destination marketing organization promoting this great place known for its historic and natural resources. I look forward to working with the board to take Bath County tourism to the next level of success, reaching new visitor markets and enhancing the area’s economic vitality,” said Shore. “Bath County has amazing assets with a long-standing and positive reputation for hospitality.”

“What we saw in Mark Shore was an understanding of Virginia and this region, coupled with an extensive and respected background in destination marketing with a variety of successfully run tourism organizations,” said Mark Spadoni, Managing Director of The Omni Homestead Resort and Chair of the Visit Bath County Board of Directors. “He will be 100% focused on the role in Bath County and has the experience needed to hit the ground running from day one.”

Shore began his 30+ year career in the tourism industry with Stouffer Hotels & Resorts in Georgia and has worked for a historic attraction in North Carolina. He has 17 years of CEO experience leading destination marketing organizations, including in Virginia with the Charlottesville/Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau and in Tennessee at Visit Franklin, just south of Nashville, TN.
