STALNAKER
Dana L. Stalnaker, 91, of Talcott, gained his heavenly reward; his faith is now sight; on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at CAMC General Hospital, following a short illness.
Born August 1, 1931, at Braxton County, WV, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lula Underwood Stalnaker. He served his country during the Korean War as a Corporal with the First and Third Armored Divisions. He worked as an orderly for the Weston and Hinton Hospitals, as a former insurance salesman, and as a factory worker. He was a former charter member of the Greenbrier Valley Rural Fire Dept.
After his graduation from Seminary in Kentucky, he served as Pastor for Steer Run Baptist Church, until 1966, when he was called to be the pastor of the Rollynsburg Baptist Church, where he served, until the Lord called him home. Preacher Stalnaker enjoyed gospel music, singing in the quartet at church functions, watching westerns, reading Louis L’Amour books, and spending time with his family, church family, friends, but especially his grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Stalnaker; great-grandson, Aiden Jackson; siblings, Marvis Rollyson, Virl Stalnaker, Virlin Stalnaker, Kelsie Stalnaker, Irene Jarvis, Opal Jarvis, and Thurl Stalnaker.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Mark S. Stalnaker of Newport News, VA and Matthew A. Stalnaker and wife, Jamie of Hinton; grandchildren, Rachel, Stephen, Emily, Rebecca, Daniel, Luke, Brooke, and Bruce Jr.; great-grandchildren, Avah, Mila, and Alexander.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Rollynsburg Baptist Church with Pastors Don Bean and Joe Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Rollynsburg Baptist Church at Talcott.
