Obituary: Jane Ellen Halloran Thompson

THOMPSON

Jane Ellen Halloran Thompson went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, May 16, 2022.

She was born August 13, 1946 to Percy B. (Brud) and Leona (Peg) Willis Halloran.

Jane graduated as valedictorian of Talcott High School Class of 1964. She then entered Chesapeake & Ohio Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1967 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at C&O Hospital, Hinton Hospital, South Carolina Baptist Hospital, Summers County Hospital, Summers Continuous Care Center, and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Jane taught the LPN Program and Nursing Assistant classes at the State Prison for Women at Pence Springs.

From a young age, she always knew what she wanted to do, become a nurse and help people. She worked for over thirty years as the only school nurse for Summers County Schools. She loved the students and was a strong advocate for the children’s welfare.

Jane was a member of the Rollynsburg Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and often sang solos. She became a Christian at the early age of eight and loved serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Besides her parents, Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Richard B. (Dick) Halloran.

Jane loved and nurtured her family unconditionally. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa K. Thompson of St. Albans/Talcott; and her son, Joel R. Thompson and wife, Missy of Talcott. Also surviving are her precious grandsons, Hunter Ross Thompson and Chase Andrew Thompson; three nieces; one nephew; in-laws; and lots of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Tim Halloran and Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery. She will be laid to rest near her dear Mother and Father. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Joel Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Dee Terry, Chuck Rollyson, Hank Keatley, and Jr. Merrill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith.”

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.ronaldmeadowsfp.com.

Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
