Special weather statement issued for Summers County

UPDATE: A new weather statement has been issued for Southeastern Summers and Central Monroe counties until 3 p.m. Potential areas of impact include Talcott, Wayside, Wolfcreek, Pickaway, Union and Red Sulphur.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Summers County through 2 p.m. Strong thunderstorms are expected to impact part of Summers and surrounding counties.

According to the statement, the Doppler radar was tracking the development of multiple showers and thunderstorms at 12:40 p.m.

The weather statement warns of possible falling trees and recommends seeking shelter inside a building.
