GRIMMETT
Gloria B. Grimmett passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 4, 2021 surrounded by family. Ms. Grimmett was born in Hix, WV on September 15, 1933 to George Estil and Berthal Calvert Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Clyde” Grimmett; her parents; her sisters, Betty Richmond and Deborah Richmond; her twin sister, Flora “Bunnie” Cyrus; her brothers, Robert Richmond and James “Jimmy” Richmond; and her grandson, Josh Mann.
Ms. Grimmett is survived by her children: daughter, Teresa Mann and husband, Jim of Hinton, WV; daughter, Donna Miller and husband, Nathan of Johnson City, TN; and son, David Grimmett and wife, Jennifer or Kearneysville, WV. She also leaves behind brothers, Gene Richmond, Fred Richmond, Harold Richmond, and Danny Richmond; and a special sister-in-law, Alverta “Jerry” Cornell.
Additionally, Ms. Grimmett is survived by grandchildren, Chris Bragg and husband, DeWayne Lawrence, Michelle Comer and husband, Robert, Amy Crawford and wife, Jordonne Bostic, Joshua Benson Lee, Baileigh Morgan Grimmett, and Jamie Mann and wife, Merenda Crotts. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Candace Crawford, Leah Comer, Lucas and Sadie Mann, Jacob and Josiah Jarrell, Lindsey Kurtz and husband, Dakota, Katie Hendrickson and husband, Brandon, and Hailey Bakker and husband, Sean. Surviving great-great-grandchildren are Rosemary and Reagan Kurtz, Emma and Lillian Hendrickson, and Wyatt Bakker. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Grimmett was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of Upland Baptist Church and a former volunteer at Summers County ARH for many years. She loved children and was a retired daycare provider at the Humpty Dumpty Daycare Center in Hinton.
Ms. Grimmett enjoyed singing, playing bingo, spending time with her family, gardening, and watching the many birds that visited her feeders. She was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan and enjoyed watching games. She will be missed by all, but left this world after a life full of joy and love.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Southern WV and Alisa Lane for their care and compassion.
Due to the recent surge in COVID-19, there will be a private ceremony for members of Ms. Grimmett’s immediate family that will be held at Pivont Funeral Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Eddie Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the O’Bryan Cemetery at Hix, WV.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
