MANN
Roger D. Mann, 76, of Hinton died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born November 15, 1944 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Donald and Mildred Simmons Mann.
Roger was a 1963 graduate of Hinton High School and was retired from the Summers County Board of Education after 38 years, having served in the transportation department. Roger was sought after by many for his knowledge of engines and was a respected, skilled mechanic. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved WVU and Summers County Bobcat sports. He was an honorary member of the Bobcat Hall of Fame and a former member of the Hinton City Council. Roger loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Mann, and a brother-in-law, Robert Lee Basham, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon Lilly Mann; one daughter, Sherri Edwards and husband, David of Garner, NC; one sister, Betty Jo Basham of Hinton; three grandchildren, Corey, Kevin, and Carissa Edwards; and one great-grandchild, Adalynn; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ernie Moye, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the John P. Lilly Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends could call from 12 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Summers County Bus Drivers. Honorary pallbearers were David Ballard, Joe Blankenship, Zack Mills, Paul Blankenship, Jay McBride, and Charlie Saunders.
