Another man has been arrested following an investigation into Summers County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Cale.

Robert Eugene Bennett Jr., 34, of Hinton, was arrested on Wednesday, June 9, by officers with the West Virginia State Police after he admitted to engaging in sexual acts with minors, according to the criminal complaint filed in Summers County.

The complaint states that between June and December 2020, Bennett met Cale at a Hinton home where they began to drink and later sat fully naked in the presence of two minor children. During that same time, Bennett engaged in sexual acts with the minors who were aged 9 and 11.

Bennett further told officers that he “was in possession of and did distribute several images of child pornography” of the same two minors.

Bennett is at Southern Regional Jail on two counts of sexual assault first degree, two counts of first degree sexual abuse and possession and distribution of child pornography.

A surety/cash bond has been set at $152,000.

Cale was booked at Southern Regional Jail on June 7 for multiple felony charges following a lengthy investigation into allegations of distribution of child pornography and soliciting a minor.
