BALLARD
Carol Lea Knight Ballard, 86, of Pipestem went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2021 at her home following a long illness.
Born April 8, 1935 at Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Carroll Melvin and Cynthia Rebecca Willis Chapman.
She was a longtime member of Cooks Chapel Independent Baptist Church, where she proudly served as the church nursery attendant for many years. Carol retired as a night auditor for Pipestem State Park.
Carol enjoyed watching old westerns, reading, and doing word search puzzles.
Preceding her in death include her first husband, William “Billy” Knight; second husband, Homer Ballard; two sons, Robert “Bobby” Knight and Stephen “Stevie” Knight; one grandson, Samuel Knight.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Ellen Pack and husband, Larry of Pipestem; two sons, Melvin Knight of Princeton and Ronnie Knight and wife, Michelle of Ohio; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Teddy Lange and husband, Steve of Phoenix, AZ; one brother, Gary Chapman and wife, Sunny of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Funeral services were 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Cooks Chapel Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial followed in the Ellison Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends could call from 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
