VANDALL
Danny Brown Vandall, 72, of Sandstone, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY following a 3 month illness.
Born April 27, 1948 at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Ulysses Earl and Ina Noel Taylor Vandall.
Danny was retired from CSX Transportation Corporation with 36 years in the Maintenance of Way Department. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having been chief Chinook mechanic. Danny attended Meadow Creek Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially liked working on vehicles and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Ella Vandall in 2010; also preceded by 3 brothers, Kenny, Lloyd, and Billy Vandall; and 5 sisters, Jean Surber, Pauline Turner, Betty Ward, Karen Cales, and Dixie Hall.
Survivors include a son, Danny Wayne Vandall of Hix; and a daughter, Melinda Gore and husband, Jason of Hinton; two granddaughters, Krystina and Ella Jean Gore of Hinton; two sisters, Phyllis Foster of Hudson, NC and Mary Dolin of White Sulphur Springs; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Harry Allen officiating. Burial followed in the King Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends could call from 12 p.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Wayne Lemon, Jr., Jeremy Lemon, Jesse Southall, Noah Cales, Jackie Lee Cales, Jr., Jonny Pence, and Jerry Gwinn.
