It has been a busy few weeks for Summers County Middle and High School Bobcats basketball.
On Wednesday, March 24, the Summers County Middle School Lady Bobcats took on the Mountain View Middle School Lady Hawks. The seventh graders lost to the Lady Hawks by the score of 25 to 16. Bobcats Kaylee Cole scored nine points, Claire Fox scored three, and Layla Northern and Saigan Sims added two points apiece.
The eighth-graders defeated the Lady Hawks 50 to 13. Bobcats Abigayle Persinger scored 18-points, Avery Lilly scored 17, Cheyenne Smith scored seven points, Kensi Plumey scored six and Lexi Gore added two.
On Friday, March 26, the seventh-grade Lady Bobcats defeated the Pikeview Middle School Lady Panthers 28 to 16. Saigan Sim led the scoring effort with 12 points, while Claire Fox put up 10. Tara Lilly scored four points and JaeLynn Boone added two.
The eighth-grade Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Panthers by the score of 43 to 28. Avery Lilly and Abigayle Persinger scored 12 points apiece, and Cheyenne Smith added four.
And on Saturday, March 27, the seventh-grade Lady Bobcats routed the Mt. View Middle School Lady Golden Knights 58 to 2. Claire Fox scored 12-points, Hadley Bennett and Saigan Sims scored 10 points apiece, JaeLynn Boone, Tara Lilly and Layla Northern scored 8 points apiece, and Makynzie added two.
The eighth-grade Lady Bobcats also showed dominance in their 35 to 9 victory over the Lady Golden Knights. Avery Lilly scored 12 points, Abigayle Persinger scored 12 points, and Cheyenne Smith scored nine.
The five and three seventh graders and the six and three eighth-graders took on Greenbrier Middle School at home in Summers County, on Monday, March 29.
On Thursday, March 18, in a game that saw the halftime crowning of the 2020-2021 SCHS Homecoming Court, the varsity boys squad defeated the Montcalm Generals 57 to 34. Seniors Hunter Thomas and Logan Fox put up 15 points apiece.
In their next outing, on Monday, March 22, the varsity boys fell to the Meadow Bridge Wildcats by a score of 56 to 48. The next night, varsity boys traveled to Meadow Bridge for a rematch with the Wildcats. The boys team again came up short; losing 51 to 43.
The varsity boys game against the Liberty Raiders, scheduled for Thursday, March 25, has been indefinitely postponed. However, the varsity boys Bobcat squad fell to the Greenbrier West Cavaliers on Saturday, March 27 by the score of 73 to 32.
On Tuesday, March 23, the varsity girls squad took on the Mercer Christian Cavaliers at home, also falling by the score of 64 to 40. On Thursday, March 25, the varsity girls fell again, this time to Charleston Catholic, by the score of 52 to 42. Liv Meador scored 15-points for the Lady Bobcats, Taylor Isaac scored 13, Riley Richmond scored nine, Sullivan Pivont scored three points and Maggie Stover added two.
And on Saturday, March 27, the Lady Bobcats fell to the Princeton Tigers by a score of 39 to 30. Riley Richmond led the way with 13-points in the losing effort.
