The Summers County Library continues to provide services to the community.
For example, free online tutoring is available for anyone who needs it through the library. The tutoring is available every day between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. at www.tutor.com/summerscpl/.
All the student will need is a library card. If you do not already have a library card, call 304-466-4490 or stop by the library during normal business hours.
Another asset of the library is the fun programs they offer. At the end of each month, the library hosts a book club meeting via Zoom. They post the Zoom meeting link on their Facebook page (“Summers County Public Library”), on the day of the meeting.
One of their regular programs, the Bookmobile serves the community in a multitude of ways. When guidelines allow, the Bookmobile travels to all of the area schools to provide an opportunity for children to check out books of their choice. The library also takes the Bookmobile to the hospital and to various locations around the county. During the pandemic, they have also used the Bookmobile to provide WiFi for students to utilize for schoolwork.
They also have a teen advisory board that meets monthly.
The next meeting is March 25 at 5 p.m. Teens can stop by the library or join in via Zoom. The board is for students in grades 6 and up. The Zoom link is posted to the library’s Facebook on the day of the meeting or students can message Kris Kellan at kristina.kellan@gmail.com to have a link sent via email.
Students who participate in the teen advisory board earn volunteer hours and get to help plan library programs. They also get the opportunity to meet new friends.
The library also has a job opportunity for which they are currently hiring. The position includes working with the youth services librarian, assisting with Bookmobile outreach programs, creating displays and promotional materials and assisting patrons at the circulation desk.
Applications are available at the library and will be accepted through March 24.
For more information on the open position or any of the library’s programs or services, call 304-466-4490 or stop by during normal business hours. There is also more information available on the library’s Facebook page.
