The holidays are fast approaching and with them comes special shopping opportunities. This time of year, there are specific shopping needs that must be met. This includes decorations, gifts, special packaging, shipping supplies and holiday candy among other things.
Many stores offer additional products, limited-time pricing and gift wrapping options. This is always a great help in finding necessary items but many items cannot be found this way. Enter holiday markets such as the Mistletoe Market opening in Hinton.
The Mistletoe Market is, in essence, a vendor event. There will be a wide range of vendors available from which to make purchases. Some vendors will have different types of handmade items such as sculpted books, bath items, jewelry, personalized monogrammed items and more. Other vendors will be representing direct sales companies like Avon and Mary Kay. Due to social distancing requirements, only four vendors will be present each week.
Some of the vendors to look forward to include Simply Soft by Ginny Hatcher, Beautiful Bee by April Kelly, Avon representative Mary Basham Shaffer, wooden art pieces and fashion skulls by Sarah Torres and Felicia Hartwell’s monogrammed items and wreathes.
There will also be a table set up by Andrea Adkins that will provide a place for children to shop for gifts for their parents with the assistance of Mrs. Claus. All items on this table will be $1 or less. These are only a few of the vendors that will be present on different Saturdays. Some, such as Mary Kay representative Patty Cochran will be present multiple weeks.
The market will be open every Saturday beginning Nov.21 and continuing through Dec. 19. The hours are 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. There is no charge to enter the market.
The market is located beside the Summers County Public Library on Temple Street. The use of this space was graciously donated by the building’s owner Richard Lawrence.
While in the area, shoppers are encouraged to check out local businesses.
Event representative Amy Berry-Richmond says she hopes “people will come out and enjoy and support our local vendors and do some of their Christmas shopping locally.”

All pandemic guidelines will be followed by the event hosts as well as each vendor.
