Prayer chains have been actively keeping Summers County Commissioner Bill Lightner in mind in hope of his speedy recovery. Lightner was hospitalized and airlifted from Hinton’s hospital a day after election results were counted and announced last Tuesday. Lightner, who has served on the commission for 16 years, was defeated by Mike Gore. Leading up to election day Lightner had indicated he was concerned he may have been exposed to the rapidly spreading COVID-19. This concern has not been confirmed, though Lightner was airlifted from SCARH Wednesday and is said to be improving from double pneumonia in Morgantown.
