Greenbrier County School Superintendent Jeff Bryant has confirmed that Greenbrier West High School will be reopening its doors on Thursday, September 24.
In a statement released on Sunday, school officials announced confirmation of a positive COVID-19 finding at the high school. Contact tracing was immediately completed, and all of those in contact with the infected person were placed in quarantine.
Despite the determination of health officials that it was safe for students and staff to enter the building, school officials opted to temporarily transition to remote-learning in order to ensure every possible precaution had been taken.
Students in ‘Group A’ will return for in-person learning on Thursday, September 24, while those in ‘Group B’ will report on Friday, September 25. Superintendent Bryant further confirmed that all extracurricular-activities are scheduled to resume on Thursday, September 24, as well.
Greenbrier County is currently designated as green on the state’s color-coded county map. The West Virginia Department of Education will next update the color-coded map on Saturday, September 26, at 5 p.m.
